Everglades Agricultural Area
The Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) was created by an act of Congress in 1948 at the same time that the Water Conservation Areas were developed as part of the Central and Southern Flood Control Project. Over 550,000 acres of the most-fertile soil in America is home to sugarcane, winter vegetables, sod and rice farms.
